2) Flushing
EXPECT FLUSHING!!!
Flushing feels like a hot, stinging, prickling,
itchy sensation that usually begins on the crown of the head and
proceeds downward.
Rarely, flushing can be
accompanied by mild lightheadedness or even
nausea.
NOTHING BAD IS HAPPENING
DURING FLUSHING!!!
Flushing begins as soon as several minutes after
taking Niacin to as late as several hours after taking
Niacin.
Flushing lasts as little as several minutes to as
long as an hour or so.
Flushing is caused by the dilation (“opening”) of
small blood vessels throughout the body, including those in the
skin.
THE BLOOD VESSEL DILATION
OF FLUSHING IS BOTH HEALTHY AND
DESIRABLE!!!
Over time, the body will
acclimate to the blood vessel dilation of
flushing.
Flushing can be minimized by
taking Niacin with a non-fatty meal, especially one that contains a
lot of pectin (applesauce, yogurt).
